Archuleta County 4-H Council consists of four representatives from
each club: the president, vice president and 2 council rep's that attend
the bi-monthly council meetings. Elections for council officers are
held in October. Club elections are generally held in September or October.
At council meetings, fund raising ideas are discussed as well as county
wide community service projects. Camps and conferences and deadlines
are talked about and the treasurer gives a report on the status of the
council account. All this information is taken back to the clubs by
the representatives and reported on at their next club meeting.
During the election process, 2 senators are elected. These are members
14 and older who will represent us on a district level as well as the
president and vice president. District meetings take place 2-3 times
a year. As a district officer, you are also eligible to run for a position
at a district level. Once you have been the district president, you
are then eligible to run for a state officer position.
Parliamentary procedure is practiced at club and council meetings.
Parliamentary procedure provides the rules of order that clubs use in
conducting their business. These rules encourage courtesy and justice
for each member. They bring order to the meeting and help the club make
decisions.
